This is our first guitar. The inspiration came from my ordering a surf green guitar that was not up to par. I told Patti I was going to give it my best shot to build what I wanted. It started with a sketch on paper and a template cut out of cardboard. I’ve been a woodworker since I was a wee little guy so I was familiar with the tools. What I wasn’t aware of at the time were the amount of hours and challenges I would endure! It was all worth it. An important life lessen for me is to just go for it. Sometimes if we think too much about the complications we’d rather stay in bed and that’s not productive! I grabbed a tele neck from a guitar I had since the early 80’s and built the body. I still use this guitar live and on recordings. It sounds and plays great! Seymour Duncan pickups, CRS pots, CRL 5 position switch, Gotoh bridge, Nitrocellulose Lacquer and Schaller mini tuners. The body is poplar and the only guitar we build that has a pick guard!
