The Nexus gave us a chance to work with a 330 body style, and I must admit I dig it! Ken wanted a light natural finish on his guitar and the 5AAA quilted top delivered a very pleasing aesthetic with the hand-rubbed oil finish. This guitar is comfortable. From the shape of the body, to how the neck was carved to Ken’s exacting specifications. The neck and body attachment were hand-shaped for comfort through the higher register. The Dawgtown HSS set along with a 5-position CRL switch, master volume and master tone, provide all the tone Ken was looking for. We used a gold Hipshot bridge and Gotoh gold tuners. Ken specifically wanted the bopat 4-2 headstock configuration and we capped it off with the same piece of wood we used for the top cap on the body. We lasered the Nexus name into the custom magnetized truss-rod cover fabricated from a piece of Purple Heart and as a bonus added the inlaid cross at the 12th position of the Granadillo fretboard. Nice touch! The set-neck is 5 piece and per Ken’s instruction sized to his specifications, with Honduran Mahogany carrying the bulk along with laminations of Wenge & Maple. Of course we had to add a touch of Purple Heart given Ken’s faith in Jesus Christ, and for us, represents a King’s purple robe. Our goal at bopat guitars is to create relationships and offer an iron sharpens iron approach to building guitars. The parallels between building guitars and life in general are extraordinary and the interaction with our clients is key to what we do. It’s not a transaction for us. It’s a way of life and we are honored to walk this journey with our clients. We include a bopat/gator case and shipping is additional when applicable.
